The 2012 New Year Performance event is held at Schaumburg Prairie Center on 2/05!

The Grand Raffle Prize this year is the KINDLE FIRE !!!

1) Raffle tickets on sale NOW!

Please stop by at the Registration desk and purchase your raffle tickets to increase your chance of winning.
The price is 1 ticket for $2.00, or 6 tickets for $10.00

2) Raffle prize & Silent Auction donation:

We are still in need of raffle prizes . We encourage families to donate a raffle
prize value at $10 or more. This is a great opportunity to help the school, and have fun.
Remember: More raffle prizes translate to more winners : )

Also, we are looking for extra special prizes (minimum value $100) for a Silent Auction at the after event dinner.

NOTE: One free raffle ticket will be given per donation

3) CNSCS Chinese Performance is on 2/05 (Sunday) at Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts:

The Address is 201 Schaumburg Court Schaumburg, IL 60193. Phone number is (847) 895 – 3600.
The show will start at 1:30pm.

NOTE: Rehearsal schedule will be sent out sometime next week.
It will list rehearsal time for all performances (stating at 9:30am)
Please try to be on time for your scheduled rehearsal so that everybody gets the chance to practice.

4) Fundraising activities during Rehearsal from 9:00am thru 1:00pm :

Come and participate in the following fun activities while you are waiting:
. Bean Bag toss
. Finger Nail Painting (very popular with the girls)
. Spin the Wheel
. Selling Hersey Ice Cream

We will need volunteers on 2/05 morning to help run these events.
Service points will be provided. Please see Gay Lim for more information.

5) The Chinese New Year Dinner will be held on 2/05 (after the Performance) at
Jockey Wok ‘N’ Rolls Restaurant:

This year we are offering a 12-Course Meal.
The cost per person is $12.00 .

2012 Spring Registration begins 1/08 and 1/15

Registration for the Spring 2012 semester will start this Sunday (1/08) and continue on 1/15. Afterwards, there will be a $15 late fee when you register.

You can register online:

1. Go to CNSCS.org

2. On the left-hand side, click on “CNSCS Online”: it will take you to the Member-Only website of CNSCS. Please note that if you receive an error message when you are on the member-only website, it may be because you are using a browser other than IE. (Although Google Chrome worked for me just now.)

3. Login with your login and password. Please email us at cnscs2009@gmail.com if you would like a login and password set up for you.

4. Once you login, select “Parent”, and then select “Registration”

5. When you finish the process, you should see something like this:

Please note the GREEN Bar that tells you "You have completed your online registration"

Please print out this final screen and bring it to school with you.

Please don’t forget the CHECK! (Pay to: CNSCS) Your registration is not complete until you make the payment. Thanks.

You also have the option of filling out the PAPER form and turn it in together with the payment.

Reminder of our 4th-period classes:

There is a separate, per semester, fee for 4th period classes. Registration for a 4th period class is mandatory for Grades 1 and up. See Registration Form for current listings and fees, contact us via email cnscs2009@gmail.com or stop by Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Road, Palatine, IL during CNSCS school days for more information.

In general, the 4th period extra-curricular classes are open only to students currently enrolled in the regular language classes. In cases where the number of registrants exceeds instructor-determined class capacity, a raffle may be used to determine final class roster. Classes may be cancelled if minimum class size is not met. If capacity exists, 4th period classes may also be opened to CNSCS graduates or siblings of current students. However, an additional $25 class fee will be charged. Please see the Director of Extra-Curriculum for current class openings.

Reminder: the 4th period dance classes are open to ALL students age 4 and up. Participants are grouped by age. We are in special need for older kids (age 12 and up) to participate. Announcement: New Toddler Class for ages 2 and 3

To ignite kids’ learning experience, we are offering an opportunity to toddlers two to three years of age with a program geared to early learning development for this age group. The proposed program will have age appropriate music, pictures, games, and learning activities in Chinese. The program will be offered on Sundays from 9:50 AM to 10:30 AM at Fremd High School in Palatine beginning 1/22/2012. Please tell your family, friends and neighbors about this good news.

If you are interested, please register after winter break on 1/08/2012. Any questions please come to Fremd High School on Sundays between 9 AM and 12 PM during normal CNSCS school hours.

New Event: 2011 CNSCS Recital Contest

In the upcoming Fall Semester (2011), we will have a new school event called the CNSCS Recital Contest .
This is to replace the Speech contest. We encourage all students to participate in the Recital contest.

Purpose of the competition: Chinese recital competition aims to improve literacy and reading ability of Chinese students and enhance student’s Chinese intonation, pronunciation, the correct pronunciation.

Our school’s Recital Contest is on 10/30. The first place winner of each group will compete in the MCLSA Recital Contest on 11/12.

Group competition: competition is divided into six groups

Group 1: Students in grades 2nd and 3rd

New CFL Program announcement‏

This Fall, we are introducing a new Chinese as a Foreign Language (CFL) Program 漢語外語班 for 2011!!!

Young children (beginners under 6-7 years of age) or children for whom Mandarin Chinese is spoken in the home are strongly encouraged to enroll in CNSCS’ regular traditional Mandarin Chinese language classes (pre-K through 10th grades). However, for older children (8+ year) for whom the regular pre-K or K classes would not be an appropriate starting level due to the participants’ age, CNSCS is pleased to offer a new learning track – The Chinese as a Foreign Language (CFL) Program.

The CFL program is a new, 4-year program (CFL-1, CFL-2, CFL-3 and CFL-4) geared for the older (8+ year) beginner or older (11-14 yrs old) student with a limited knowledge of the Chinese language. Upon completion of the 4-year program, students would be awarded a Certificate of Completion (in lieu of a diploma) from CNSCS. Students who complete the 4-year CFL program may choose to continue learning Chinese through the regular language track and upon completing the 10th grade curriculum, will be awarded a diploma from CNSCS.

CNSCS鼓勵幼兒(6-7歲以下初學者)和在家講中文的兒童參加CNSCS的常規傳統國語文課程(幼小班到十年級). 但是有些年齡較大的學生(8歲以上),常規的幼小班或幼大班課程,可能不是很適當的起始點,因此CNSCS很高興能提供一個新的學習課程 – 漢語外語班(CFL).

Hello parents, students, faculty and staff.

WELCOME BACK!

The first day of Chinese school for the Fall semester 2011 will starts at 9 AM on September 11 at Fremd High School.

The Board and teachers of CNSCS have been working very hard over the Summer to ensure that our students will have an exciting, fun-filled learning experience.

Registration for the Fall session will continue. After September 18, a $15 late fee will apply to RETURNING families.

All new families are welcome!! Please come to the William Fremd High School
(1000 S. Quentin Rd., Palatine, IL) on Sundays, 9 AM – 12 PM, beginning Sept. 11, 2011 for more information about CNSCS Mandarin Chinese Language classes.

We are very excited to see you and your children back in school. If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or compliments, please feel free to reach out to any of the board members and they will be happy to assist you.

2011 Chinese Fine Arts Summer Camp in July

The Chinese Folk Arts Summer Camp is from July 11 thru July 15. The purpose of the camp is to help children develop cultural awareness and heighten their knowledge of global communities through interactive lessons and activities. It offers various programs and activities for children age 6 thru 12. Total cost for the week is between $235.00 and $250.00.

Teacher, Louis Wu, met with China’s President Hu

During the final day of his US visit, January 21, 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago and addressed students and staff members.

Louis Wu, an Instructor at CNSCS school, and a faculty at Walter Payton College Prep, met and talked with the Chinese President Hu during his only non-Washington stop in Chicago.
