NO 4th-period classes / NO adult classes on 2/28!

In Uncategorized on February 21, 2010 at 1:31 pm

District 211 just informed us that they will be holding a Wrestling Meet at Fremd High School on 2/28.

(This is an annual event and District 211 is not able to confirm the date until when it is only weeks before the actual date).

All the 4th-period classes and adult classes will be cancelled on 2/28.

The regular Chinese language classes for the children will sill be held as usual.

Please note that there will be a lot of people from outside of CNSCS (AND Fremd) coming in and out of the school for the Wrestling event on 2/28. We would like to ask all parents to work together to pay more attention to the children in our school.

CNSCS Spring 2010 Semester begins on January 31, 2010!

In General on January 24, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Thank you for your support for the past semester (Fall 2009). Thank you also for registering for Spring 2010.

Here is a reminder that January 31, 2010 will be the first day of the Spring 2010 semester. If you have signed your kid(s) up for a different 4th-period class, please remind them that from January 31, they should go to the new class!

LOST AND FOUND:

Throughout the years, we have amassed a lot of strayed objects left behind. We are now clearing out the storage room and we need to dispose of the items. On January 31 and February 7, please come to the Parent Lounge and see whether any of the items belongs to you! After February, we will donate all the items to charity.

Important updates about our 4th-Period Extra-Curricular Classes

In General on January 9, 2010 at 5:26 pm

Our next semester (Spring 2010) will officially start on January 31, for both 4th-period classes for our students and for the adult classes.

Important Updates:

1.  We are adding a new “Chorus” 合唱 class. This singing group requires min. 10 students to sign up in order for it to happen. Our previous Adult Chorus instructor, Ms. Ho, has agreed to teach this class.  Ms. Ho is a well known conductor for several chorus groups in the Great Chicago area.  Please do not miss this great opportunity if your child enjoys singing.

2.  We will consider dividing our popular Art Studio class into two groups if we have enough enrollments.  The more advanced group, which will focus on the drawing technique (繪畫素描), will still be taught by our current teacher Mr. Jie.  The additional group is a combined arts and crafts class aimed at the younger kids.  This group will be led by Mr. Fan, who used to be our Arts class substitute teacher and had garnered lots of positive feedbacks for his time with us.

3.  Mr. Lee, the teacher of Mental Math – Abacus Training (MMAT) class, will have a teacher-parent meeting this coming Sunday (1/10).  The meeting will be held in Room 168, starting at 10:30 am.  Although it is intended for the parents of current MMAT class students, it would also be a good opportunity for anyone else who is interested in learning more about MMAT.

4. The 二胡 Erhu class meets at Room 172 from 10:20am-11:20am (for Adult Erhu) and 11:30am-12:30am (for the 4th-class).

4. Once you login, select “Parent”, and then select “Registration”

You also have the option of filling out the PAPER form and turn it in together with the payment.

You can download/print the registration form here.

Reminder of our 4th-period classes:

There is a separate, per semester, fee for 4th period classes.  Registration for a 4th period class is mandatory for Grades 1 and up. See Registration Form for current listings and fees, contact us via email cnscs2009@gmail.com or stop by Fremd High School, 1000 S. Quentin Road, Palatine, IL during CNSCS school days for more information.

In general, the 4th period extra-curricular classes are open only to students currently enrolled in the regular language classes. In cases where the number of registrants exceeds instructor-determined class capacity, a raffle may be used to determine final class roster.  Classes may be cancelled if minimum class size is not met.  If capacity exists, 4th period classes may also be opened to CNSCS graduates or siblings of current students. However, an additional $25 class fee will be charged.  Please see the Director of Extra-Curriculum for current class openings.

We also offer adult classes:

You will need to register for these classes EVERY SEMESTER. The registration form for Spring 2010 can be found here.

Important notice for the 4th-period (extra-curricular) classes

In General on September 20, 2009 at 8:27 am

Change to all the 4th-period classes can be done by the end of 3rd week.  Please see CNSCS Secretary (Lin Classon) to fill out the class change form if you plan to do so.

Starting the 4th week, no class change or refund request will be accepted.

In addition, the 4th period classes, if not full, are open to the community* now.  If you know someone who is interested in any of our 4th class, please refer them to Director of Extra-Curriculum, Ching Yao Hung, or Lin Classon for more details.

We continue to monitor the number of students in each 4th-period class.  In most of classes, we would like to limit the class size to 12 students per instructor.  If a class is becoming too popular, we will do our best by either splitting the class or recruiting an additional instructor.

Extra-Curriculum classes for adults:

Currently we offer 10 adult classes through CNSCS.  Among them, Art class and Tai Chi class will be offered only if enough number of participants sign up for the class.

* An additional charge of $25 will apply for any child who is not currently a registered student at CNSCS that wishes to participate in one of the 4th period classes.  Children of current Board Members, teachers, and CNSCS graduates are exempt from this additional fee.
