Thank you for your interest in learning more about our school.  Please check out our official website:

www.cnscs.org for more information.

Click here for a PDF file that will explain how the school works in details.
Here are some of the FAQs:

  • Our school calendar year will not be finalized until August.  But in general, the school year starts on the first Sunday of September every year.  We will post the 2009-2010 calendar here on our blog as soon as it is available.  Or, please email cnscs2009@gmail.com to have your email address added to our contact list.
  • We can only accept students older than 4 years old on September 1, 2009.
  • Classes are on Sundays, from 9 am to 12:30 pm.  Children in the Preschool and Kindergarten classes will not be required to take the mandatory 4th period extra-curricular classes, and therefore they will be dismissed at the end of the 3rd period, at 11:20 am.
  • All students with no Chinese language capability will start at the pre-school level regardless of age.  If your child speaks Chinese at home and is older than preschool age, you will need to speak with our Director of Education for him or her to assess the appropriate class for your child.
  • We teach Traditional Chinese at CNSCS, which is NOT the Simplified Chinese used in China.  We also do not use Pinyin in the beginning, instead, we use the phonetic system currently used in Taiwan.

See here for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bopomofo

  • We request that new families visit our school when school opens.  We will be there to give you a tour, and to help you with admission and registration should you desire.  Please do not worry if you cannot be there on the First Sunday when school opens. (No need to cancel that Labor Day weekend trip!)  As your child will most likely be joining the preschool class, they will be able to catch up when they do start school there.
  • We do NOT accept credit card, and therefore please bring your checkbook with you (or cash, of course).  There will be an one-time application fee of $55, and $110 for 1 student per semester.  (Please see the PDF file for more details on fees)

The above should cover most of your questions.  Please email us if you have additional concerns.  Nevertheless, we would encourage you to come by and talk to us, as this will be the best way to learn about the school and make your decision.  Hope to see you there when school starts!

Welcome to the new blog for CNSCS!
